Gynaecology

Whether you’re facing new symptoms, living with a long-term condition, or simply looking for clarity, we offer a wide range of women’s health services to support you. You don’t have to go through it alone, we’re here to help.

  • Heavy, Irregular and/or Painful Periods

Periods shouldn't disrupt your life but we know that 25% of women are affected by heavy periods and about half do not seek medical care despite the significant impact on their lives. Irregular bleeding includes bleeding between periods and after sex. Jo can help you understand what’s normal, what’s not, and offer investigations to assess for causes and initiate treatments to ease heavy, painful, or unpredictable bleeding.

  • Persistent Pelvic and Vulval Pain

Living with ongoing pain can be exhausting. Jo will work with you to find out what is going on and find a collaborative treatment plan that aims to bring relief. Pelvic physiotherapy plays a key role along with psychosocial strategies, medications and sometimes surgery, to improve symptoms and quality of life.

  • Prolapse

If you're feeling pressure, bulging, or discomfort, it might be a vaginal prolapse. Jo offers supportive care and treatment options, including different pessaries and surgery, to help you feel more comfortable and in control. Referral to pelvic physiotherapist colleagues is common.

  • Endometriosis

If you’re struggling with painful periods, fatigue, gut issues or pelvic pain, endometriosis could be the cause. Unfortunately, endometriosis remains under-researched and we do not know all there is to know about it. This is changing and Jo believes in a holistic approach is vital to helping you manage this chronic condition - listening, investigating, and supporting you with a plan that works for your life. Pelvic physiotherapy is often a central part of management alongside medical therapy and sometimes surgery.

  • PMS, PMDD, Perimenopause and Menopause

Hormonal changes can affect every part of your life. From your first periods to later years, whether you're just starting to notice issues or have been coping with symptoms for a long time, Jo is here to support you with information, advice and treatment options that suit you.

  • Postmenopausal Bleeding

Bleeding after menopause should always be checked out. An ultrasound scan is our first line imaging test with the best images obtained from an internal/vaginal scan. By investigating gently but thoroughly, Jo will help you get clear answers and the right care whether the bleeding was a one off or is happening repeatedly. Most of the time there is a benign cause and management is fairly simple but early diagnosis of precancer and cancer is vital.

  • PMOS (Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome)

Previously known as PCOS, a global effort to rename the condition resulted in this change in May 2026 with a transition over the next 3 years. PMOS is characterised by fluctuations in hormones, with impacts on metabolic and mental health, skin, and the reproductive system (periods, fertility) – it a condition of the whole body related to these abnormal hormone levels, including insulin.

  • Contraception & Sexual Health

Friendly, confidential advice on contraception and sexual health — including pills, injections, IUDs, implants, and STI testing — so you can make choices that feel right for you. Vulval and vaginal symptoms can be related to sex or have a big impact on sex. Jo offers patient centred and trauma informed care with several options available for pain relief for IUD insertions and removals.
